How to Download Twitter Videos & GIFs - Free HD 4K MP4
Download Twitter (X) videos and GIFs in HD up to 4K on iPhone, Android, or PC. Free downloader — no login, no app, no X Premium required.
X used to have a native video download option years ago — then they removed it. Now bookmarks only work inside the app, and there’s no way to save a video to your camera roll or share it outside the platform. Kind of frustrating when you just want to keep a clip.
Here’s how to get around that.
Already know the drill? Jump straight to the Twitter Video Downloader — paste, pick quality up to 4K, done.
How to Save X (Twitter) Videos
Step 1: Copy the Tweet Link
Open X and find the tweet with the video. Tap the Share button (the arrow icon below the tweet), then tap “Copy link”.
On desktop, you can also just grab the URL from your browser’s address bar.
Step 2: Paste and Download
Head to the Twitter Video Downloader and paste the link into the download box. Hit Download.
Step 3: Pick Your Quality
You’ll see all available quality options — up to 4K if the original was uploaded in high res. Tap the one you want and the video saves straight to your device as an MP4.
No sign-up, no app to install.
What Works (and What Doesn’t)
You can download most public content from X:
- Videos from tweets — standard video posts, up to 4K
- GIFs — these get saved as MP4 files, which are actually smaller and play better than the original GIF format. Dedicated tool: Twitter GIF Downloader
- Images — full resolution, no compression applied. Dedicated tool: Twitter Image Downloader
What doesn’t work: anything from private or protected accounts. If you can’t see the tweet without logging in, the downloader can’t reach it either.
Twitter Spaces and live broadcasts also aren’t supported — though once a live stream ends and gets saved as a regular tweet, you can grab that.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
Both x.com and twitter.com links work. The rebrand didn’t break anything — old Twitter URLs redirect fine and SaveKit handles both.
Multi-image tweets show all photos. If someone posted a thread with 4 images, you’ll see all of them and can pick which to save.
Quote tweets can be tricky. If you want the video from the original tweet (not the quote), make sure you’re copying the link to the original tweet. Quote tweet URLs sometimes point to the wrapper, not the embedded video.
On iPhone, check your Files app. Depending on your browser, downloaded videos might land in Files instead of the Camera Roll. Safari usually gives you the option to save to Photos directly.
If Something’s Not Working
“Video not found” — Most likely the tweet was deleted, or the account is private. Open the tweet in your browser first to make sure it’s still there and public.
Low quality download — Some videos were just uploaded in low quality. SaveKit can’t upscale what isn’t there. If you’re seeing 360p options only, that’s what the original was.
Nothing happens when you click Download — Try turning off your ad blocker temporarily. Some ad blockers intercept download requests. Also double-check that the URL actually starts with x.com or twitter.com.
Common Questions
Is this actually free?
Yep — no subscriptions, no “premium tier,” no account required. Just paste and download.
Does it work on phones?
Works in any mobile browser. On Android, files go to your Downloads folder. On iPhone, they typically save to the Files app (or Camera Roll if you’re using Safari and choose “Save to Photos”).
Are the videos watermarked?
No. You get the original file as-is, no watermark added.
Is there a download limit?
No limit. Save as many as you need.
What about old twitter.com URLs?
Both x.com and twitter.com links work fine.
Got a tweet you want to save? Open the Twitter Video Downloader — paste the link, pick your quality, done. No login, no X Premium.
